Vintage Mexican boleros inhabit a particular area of the heart that has never been reached by any other kind of music. It's tender, bitter-sweet, prideful, and oh so romantic. It's the everlasting flame that won't be put out by time, distance, or a new lover. Sabor a Mi, by Composer Álvaro Carrillo, is a beautiful story of an ex-lover speaking earnestly to their old Beloved about the unbreakable connection that was shared between them. Speaker states with frankness that their connection went so deep and lasted for so many years, that unavoidably they carry the essence of each other - they are forever changed. Unlike other popular boleros, Speaker is not possessive and does not ask to have Beloved back in their arms. Speaker simply wants to enjoy Beloved's company. Speak recognizes the mystery that lies beyond death, unsure if loving is even possible then, but if it is, Speaker knows that the part of each other they carry will last for eternity.
